I was dangerously close this morning to calling in a duvet day. Of course, that's pretty much SOP for me. "Level one diagnostic indicates all systems are fine. Shall we commence level two?" Face diving into my bedside table isn't very valid anymore, though.

We watched the season finale (midseason finale? Pre-hiatus break?) episode of Battlestar Galactica. . Did anyone else feel the urge to shout, as the final moments of the episode spooled by, "you maniacs! You blew it up! Oh, damn you! Goddamn you all to hell! "? Just me? I also wanted to see the head and arm of the statue of liberty thrusting up from the ground.

Ah, BSG. Always with the happy endings.

I think between the continuations of Lost, BSG, and the Obama coronation, we've got a good tv season in 2009. I'm looking forward to the blood soaked series finale to Corner Gas. I did miss this season's finale, which is good as they probably would have pulled some kind of trick to make me cry again. Curse you, Brent Butt!

We're also trying to go through some of the early Lost episodes to see what we can see. I'd forgotten just how awesome Walkabout was. We got season 1 of The Wire, and have watched the first episode. Very interesting show. If I end up coming down with anything I'll likely spend the day on the couch with potato and bacon soup watching it.

Amusing household hijinks last night. About three a.m., one of the cats got... excited? Disturbed? Enraged? Possessed by Satan himself?

Anyway, whoever was sleeping either on my chest or in the crook of my crotch got very, very mobile very, very quickly. This is usually accomplished by the cat digging its claws into the terrain, and this was no exception. So the cat went up my body, off the wall, off my nightstand, and out the door. The other cats, of course, were interested in this turn of events and followed, so by the time my pain reflex had turned off and I hit the lights, Cynra & I were the sole inhabitants of the room.

I disinfected the wounds (lovely little scratch patterns on my chest) and went back to bed. It wasn't until this morning that I noticed the real damage, a single decimetre long scratch down the cover of my new 4th edition Player's Handbook.

Ouch. Flesh heals, folks.

I'm contemplating getting Keep on the Shadowfell to try seeing how well a non-gamer can absorb 4E gameplay. The test subject would be my wife. And possibly some other people who haven’t played ever or in a long time. Any takers?
