It's no good checking out his Wiki entry. I just want to see what you know about Canadian Hockey Sage Don Cherry.

There are quite a number of hockey fans, including a Canadian!!, on my lawyer board who discuss hockey from time to time, and someone will occassionally mention Don Cherry. I learn through osmosis.

When my brother was about eight years old he saw his first Canadian fifty-dollar bill, and asked (since it was the early '90s) if that was Norman Schwarzkopf on it. My dad told him to guess again, because Schwarzkopf wouldn't be on any Canadian money. My brother then decided it must be Don Cherry.

The only Don Cherry I am familiar with is the late jazz musician (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Cherry_%28jazz%29).

I had a few of his albums, and the first few times that the hockey people talked about Don Cherry, I got really, really confused.

That was the Don Cherry that came to my mind.

I used to be a huge fan of the Flyers when I lived in Philly. I also used to be a big baseball fan but haven't watched a game in years.

I almost voted for him for Greatest Canadian, but my vote and my heart were stolen by Sir John, eh?

Though I am American, I grew up playing hockey and spent a good chunk of my life in Vermont 30 minutes from the Canadian border and thus we got CBC (both French and English) and so I got to see plenty of Hockey Night in Canada.

My brother has a Don Cherry action figure. Blue is cute. Don Cherry is not.

If Don Cherry is anything like his onscreen persona in real life, I do not like Don Cherry.

I guess hockey stopped being meaningful to me after the first 6 am competitive hockey league team practise. After quiting the team, I only watched if my team, Boston was playing...and that was all hockey was for a while, and now, I *might* watch it if the Senators were playing...but that's about it.

I'm not so much a Habs fan as I am a disciple.

Agreed. My favourite player growing up was Mats Naslund. I like Swedish hockey players in general. I like the Habs. I think hockey would not lose its appeal with fighting gone. I respect creativity in the game.

'Lemme tell ya somethin', folks', I do not like Don Cherry.

Kind of like all those Swedes on the Red Wings. No heart, can't take a team to the finals.
