It's Legal Documents Sundays here on TBG!
May. 11th, 2008 02:10 pmToday's a double fun day on Legal Document Sundays! First off, we have a copy of GenCon's bankrupcy filing.
Apparently, the Celebration auction is just the tip of the iceberg. Their largest debtor are the decorators from Celebration IV, who have $750K coming their way. Hasbro is owed $431K.
In slightly better news, if you own an old iPod, Apple owes you money! A class action suit for owners of early gen iPods has been settled, and Apple will owe iPod owners whose batteries crapped out a $45 credit at the Apple Store.

Date: 2008-05-11 10:11 pm (UTC)It's showed up on various forums that Wizards of the Coast hasn't submitted any events for GenCon Indy 2008, and apparently reps have stated they aren't sure if they'll attend. Seeing how much Hasbro is owned, it helps explain why WotC is reluctant about attending.

Date: 2008-05-12 12:53 pm (UTC)I wonder how Hasbro's policy about not dealing with companies that are in bankruptcy protection will affect the release of D&D 4.0 at this summer's GenCon?

Date: 2008-05-12 02:32 pm (UTC)No Fantasy Flight CCG tourneys.
There's some slim pickin's this year.
Huh?

Date: 2008-05-12 03:16 pm (UTC)I would rather play other games, TBH.
Re: Huh?
Date: 2008-05-12 03:30 pm (UTC)I live in South Dakota. When deeply hardcore gamers (especially those who don't dig d20) chance upon each other here there are tears shed and people happily wailing, "I'm not alone anymore!" Seriously.
I meant no intentional snarkiness in my post, but when I hear "slim pickings" and "GenCon" uttered together in any way, a part of me shrieks wordlessly in indignation. Sorry about that!
When I get my Master's finished, perhaps I'll reward myself with attendance at GenCon.
Re: Huh?
Date: 2008-05-12 03:42 pm (UTC)I don't play FFG - I just know that a big part of my SO's enjoyment of GenCon is playing in the AGoT tourney and there is none to date. And though we've got some cool fun LARPs on deck, we're actually having problems finding something to do on Saturday, which is kid of bizarre.
And that is a good reward for some tough work, dude. It's a fun time regardless - my first year there, I didn't even play anything. Just wandered and hung out with people.
