Your editorial (“The National Community,” Apr. 17) was disingenuous in saying more world music on CBC Radio 2 is a good thing... I don’t see so much of a problem if CBC Radio 2 wants to explore other forms of music, but praising the monotonous output of other, less-developed musical cultures is going too far.

My GM pointed it out to me before game last night. It's wonderful when you have this common frame of reference.

There is no music on earth that can compare with the deeply complex counter-rhythm and subtle melodic underpinning of Nickleback's "Animals" nor hope to bring about the near epiphanic brilliance of emotional insight of lyrics such as "You're beside me on the seat / Got your hand between my knees / And you control how fast we go by just how hard you wanna squeeze." Really, it is that kind of deeply philosophical ethical epistemology that has lifted our white Canadian people above the gutter nations of the earth.
