Trying to open a rather large PDF right now. My PC is making a noise like a WWII era lawnmower desperately trying to catch. I need more RAM and possibly a fan.

Fans are cheap!
Which is why I advocate a quarterly dismantling of the machine, and blowing out the dust with a duster.
I've done the fan replacement about 4 times - Gary's one of the vict^H^H^H^H patients.

It's pretty easy to disable the plugins yourself, but if you're going to go to the trouble of mucking about...

The mac Mini does sound like a good idea, though. I'd just need to figure out how to keep my wife away from it.
