'Effin machine

Trying to open a rather large PDF right now. My PC is making a noise like a WWII era lawnmower desperately trying to catch. I need more RAM and possibly a fan.

Ah, well. At least if it explodes now, I won't have to worry about expo stuff.

I'm not gonna bother to TRY openning the GoT pdf. I'll just wait until my mega-huge hardcover version arrives, lovingly embossed by GRRM.

A replacement seems kind un-necessary, though. I figure a cleanup & memory/OS upgrade would probably get me another couple years out of it.

Although I'm contemplating a Mac Mini. Or is that not what you meant by "good computers"? :)

If you need me to perform some soldering skillz, let me know - power supply fans suck up all sorts of dust, and eventually it gets into the bearings.

Which is why I advocate a quarterly dismantling of the machine, and blowing out the dust with a duster.

I've done the fan replacement about 4 times - Gary's one of the vict^H^H^H^H patients.

The mac Mini does sound like a good idea, though. I'd just need to figure out how to keep my wife away from it.
