One of the Downsides of Suburban Living

So, after reading Torontoist's piece on Pho restaurants, YHB was jonesing for some Franco-Vietnamese soup. A quick visit to Google Maps showed that the closest Pho restaurant to my place is, in fact, just around the corner.

From my old house.

Feh. Or rather, Pho-ey.

Could be worse - you could be in my position and find out something was just around the corner from your (my) old house - about 3500km away.

There are times when I'm glad that Vietnamese is the third-most spoken language in the Houston area. Many of those times are spent in the presence of pho.

(Executive Summary: Vietnamese refugees made up the first waves. Since then, it's become an immigration destination, much as it is for folks from India and Pakistan, due to established and supportive communities.)

Houston would surprise you with its cosmopolitan-ness.

Being too far from Pho is never a good thing.
