Slowly I turn towards physical fitness, step by step, inch by rather uncomfortable inch.

So, in the interests of using every resource my corporate masters have provided for me I've started to make use of the new complex's "wellness centre" (corporate talk for "gym").

The people running it do a little fitness check, and then provide you with an exercise plan. Much excitement. Two days in so far, and I'm feeling a bit sore, which I suppose is to be expected.

Spending a lot of time feeling unappreciated. That's pretty much par for the course.

Last night, Cynra & I went to see The Menagerie on the big screen. Interesting experience. Started off with a short intro by Eugene Rodenberry. The updated FX were nicely done.

Of course, exhaustion made me almost nod off three times, at which point I wept at having betrayed Kirk or something like that.

So did I! I woke myself up doing that fall-asleep-and-jerk-awake thing at least twice...and I felt like I'd committed a blasphemy! Who sleeps when Kirk is on the screen!?!

(I enjoyed it, though! I agree the new F/X were awesome!)

If you do it regularly (i.e. two to four times a week), then expect that to last for about three weeks to a month. The good news is, if you last that long, then the habit can become ingrained, and it actually gets a lot easier. You have been warned.

The thing I always found helped with muscle soreness after a workout was, paradoxically, another workout. It's sore to start, but once you get going a bit the muscles loosen right up again.

Absolutely; after working out, you should spend time stretching, just as you do before working out. This will help muscle stiffness immensely.

Remembering to stretch beforehand, me droogie?

When I started, I did lat pull-downs, and for a week, my lats burned with an itchy fire that could not be quenched. Then it got worse.

On the plus side, the new bike fits in the Fit without much difficulty, so next season, I can drive down to Milton and tire you out some more! (Or ride, depending on how much I want to kill myself.)
