That's... that's pretty darn bad.

Oh, man. Remember Kriish? It apparently wasn't the first superhero film to dance its way out of Bollywood. There was a... less good (I drip with compassion today) Superfilm, an Indian version of Superman.

Apparently, instead of at least the nod to originality we got from Kriish, this was pretty much a scene for scene remake of the Donner Superman flick (including FX scenes that were... borrowed). I'm surprised Billionaire Ted didn't order an airstrike.

Apparently the film was inspired by the succes of Mr. India, the Godfather of Bollywood superhero films.

Man. You can count on [livejournal.com profile] pyat's angst about foreign cinema to always give you amusement.

I have actually seen this movie! Well, part of it, we just couldn't make it all the way through (I couldn't manage to read the whole synopsis either, I'm pretty sure you can hurt your brain if you're not careful about things like that). A friend had downloaded it from the net or something. I can't remember if our version had subtitles or not; I don't think it would have mattered much one way or another.

It sounds a lot like Turkish Star Wars, aka "The Man Who Saved the World". If you haven't seen that, I'll get it and bring it up Sunday.
