Although I'm quite frequently bothered...

I don't think this would help.

A commercial for a Washington DC dojo from the '80s, via an older post from [livejournal.com profile] sarahnade.

They are the spiritual parents to this girl, who is also not bothered.

HOPPING HOLY FUCK, you have reached inside my soul and have plucked out a commercial that has wormed its way so deep into every memory of my childhood... I'm... I'm speechless...

Any kid who grew up in the 1970's and 1980's in Washington, D.C. will remember at least two things: Captain 20, and that commercial.

And possibly the Mr. Ray's Hair Weave commercial, if they're black.

And don't forget Morton's...and SYMS!

Dick Dysdale is still out there and kicking.... http://www.countgore.com/

I'm an expatriate. I can't explain to these goddamned Minnesota people how fucking hilarious and awesome UHF television was in D.C. back in the 1970's and 1980's. I see you're still there. Did you grow up there? You obviously know what I'm talking about, right?

Born in Bethesda, raised in Reston, left for southern Virginia for 12 years, then came back in 2000. I am NOVA through and through.

And hey, without Channel 20, my childhood would NOT have been the same.

One of the best things to happen to UHF teevee in the 1970s and 1980s in D.C. He hosted all the kids television shows, and the guy also played Count Gore DeVol (what a pun, huh) for the locally produced Creature Feature.

In other words, a boss pimp.
