That's... odd

For some reason, YouTube videos more than a few weeks old are no longer showing up in the posts.

Anyone know why that's happening?

I'm seeing them fine... your last post has one in it that is months old and its still showing up.. unless I'm missing something?

If I go back a few weeks to some older posts that had Youtube embeds, they're not showing up.

I've had that happen to ALOT of my posts. And all the ones that aren't showing up are ones that are no longer available, so I think Youtube is cracking down on anything that might be owned by a studio company. I know one thing for sure...

Definitely. Although for some reason it seems to be affecting older stuff. Maybe they updated their embed code, or LJ changed something on their end.

Sometimes YouTube takes a little time off to add features or erase thousands of videos in secrecy... whatever. My site is pretty YouTube heavy so when they shut their site down for an evening (usually on Sunday night) my site looks pretty empty.

As for explanations... YouTube has a policy of not explaining anything they do. Just try and find out why they'll take your video down while leaving exactly the same content available from someone else. At least they're not owned by Fox/NewsCorp (I'm looking at you MySpace).

Well I'm not the one with a near cult-like following of my humoristic ways but ok, touche, point to you sir :)

I'm just bitter, an emotion I figured you'd understand and all, because I read your blog at work and our IT people have blocked Youtube, so when you post one of these no-doubt awesome vids, I just see a big blank space. And that's not what I come here for! Goddamn it, entertain me!

It seems to be working now, maybe one of those on-again off-again problems you are having with embedded videos. But I got my very own dedicated post out of it, so I'm happy :)

And yes, I watched the video on my own time, on my own PC. It seemed like the least I could do :)
