How people talk

An archive of accents.

Curiously, it lacks Canucks. That's because we talk normal, I guess.

Courtesy, of course, of [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda.

edit: Yes, Canadians are under "English", I see that. I just posted it up so I'd remember it when I got home from work.

edit2: God, this is GREAT. The English accents ALONE are fascinating.

Ummmmmm, no. ;)

No, you just didn't look hard enough.

Under the "english" category:

28. English Speaker from Toronto, Ontario, Canada
29. English Speaker from Lindsay, Ontario, Canada
30. English Speaker from St. Mary's, Ontario, Canada

Under the "french" category:

7. French Speaker from Quebec, Canada

*listens* Yeah, that was pretty good.

I'm disappointed in the fact that the word "coffee" or "garage" isn't in the narration, b/c it would so make the Boston speaker's that much better.

Kinda like (whatever region of) Canuckians and "about".

(Not poking fun - seriously enjoy hearing them.)

I can attest to that...

My girlfriend just happens to be South African. And lemme tell you I find no accent sexier.

You may have met her at Charlottes house warming last summer.

Ahhh... I do remember her telling me that someone asked her to say passionfruit and not entirely understanding why...

I found them through the atlas.

Fascinating site, though. Thanks.

There's no Icelandic there, we're the normal ones..

I like how the non english speaking participants have listed "age of english onset", like it's a disease or something. XD

There are a few Canadian accents ... under English.

Um, shouldn't that be: That's because we talk normal, eh.
