So, apparently there's some surprise that a party that billed itself as theologically pure and morally uncorrupted defeated the incumbent in a recent election.

Apparnetly many people are afraid of what sorts of shenanigans this religiously oriented party might be up to, and how this might affect relations with their more powerful, cranky neighbours who are already testy about terrorism.

In other news, Hamas won the Palestinian elections.

Glad to provide. The parallels just seemed obvious after I read a couple post-election articles. The Palestinian one, not the Canadian one.
